One fanzine even went out of its way to piss all over John Barry's score, and naturally the more ignorant articles couldn't castigate Rick Baker enough at the time. Forrest J. Ackerman was particularly pissy about the movie, though of course that didn't stop him from using it to sell magazines.

...But hey, the worshipful, waterlogged, all-dials-twisted-to-eleven Peter Jackson version has dinosaurs, right?

Dino and Guillerman's sequel King Kong Lives never gets enough hate/love, though. There's still some skeevey simian Stockholm Syndrome that taints '76, it takes everything I don't like about Charles Groden and takes them to an 11, and I will never forgive them for the snake metaphor, but, yeah, in the end it ain't all that terrible. And I've really come around on Lange's performance, too. W.B. But, lo and behold, I caught this on Pay-cable a couple of months ago and was amazed how much I enjoyed it. Certainly not anywhere near the original, but an enjoyable evening.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04598321249896138287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1019017536875409609.post-4965389847120203902016-08-08T08:55:18.974-05:002016-08-08T08:55:18.974-05:00Great article, Kong 76 is one of my favorite bad m...Great article, Kong 76 is one of my favorite bad movies.Edhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10936818849749255253noreply@blogger.com
