Movie Poster Spotlight :: 1970 Movies from A to Z.

Why 1970? Simple, t'was the year I came to be.

A is for Airport.
B is for Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

C is for Colossus: The Forbin Project.
D is for The Dunwich Horror.

E is for El Topo.
F is for Le foto proibite di una signora per bene.

G is for The Great White Hope.

H is for Hexen bis aufs Blut gequält.
(a/k/a Mark of the Devil)
I is for I Drink Your Blood.

J is for Joe.
K is for Kelly's Heroes.

L is for L'uccello dalle piume di cristallo.
(a/k/a The Bird with the Crystal Plumage)
And a # while we're at it: 5 bambole per la luna d'agosto
(a/k/a Five Dolls for an August Moon)

M is for Multiple Maniacs.
N is for Nora-neko rokku Onna banchô.

O is for One More Time.
P is for Patton.

Q is for A Quiet Place to Kill.

U is for Up in the Cellar.

V is for The Vampire Lovers.
W is for When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth.


Alas, there is no X. So no X will there B.


Y is for Yog Monster from Space.
Z is for Zatoichi vs. Yojimbo.


Not as good as 1968, but nothing to sneeze at IMHO. And no, I didn't forget M*A*S*H, Five Easy Pieces, Little Big Man, or Catch-22; they just lost out on their letter to something I liked better. What I do regret leaving out is Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Two Mules for Sister Sara, Brewster McCloud, Equinox, Woodstock, Bloody Mama, Chisum, The Wizard of Gore, Elvis - That's the Way it Is, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, and My Name is Trinity -- especially My Name is Trinity. That was the hardest one to leave out. And feel free to also consider this a big old middle-finger toward Love Story. Can't stand that damn movie...

  1. I really enjoyed looking through this, W.B. I may steal your idea, though 1970 is probably a lot more interesting (at least in terms of poster art) than 1960!
