2017 Wrap-Up :: The Atomic Weight of Cheese Podcast :: Episode 3 :: 2017 in Review!
Greetings Atomic Cheeseheads! And welcome to Episode 3: 2017. It was ... a year. And so, please join Me, Steph and Mike spend an hour and change wallowing in celebrity deaths (Stephen Furst 4VR!), going over highlights and listing our favorites and not-so-favorites in movies and streaming television and other popular media as we say goodbye (and good riddance) to 2017. So give us a listen, won't you? Thank you!
And for those of you are curious as to what my top films of 2017 are/were, and as a heads up to those who are gonna listen or already listened to the podcast already, there were two late additions to the list of faves that I managed to squeeze in after recording this episode. One was The Shape of Water (2017), which was fantastic, sweet, and delightfully perverse, and would easily qualify as the best thing I saw last year. EXCEPT! Turns out that would be the SECOND best inter-aquatic-species romance fantasy yarn I watched the last weekend of December but it happened, and there ya go.
Which makes The Red Turtle (2017), another enchanting success from Studio Ghibli, officially the best thing I saw last year, joining Get Out (2017), Happy Death Day (2017), Gifted (2017), Wind River (2017), Blade Runner 2049 (2017), Lady Bird (2017), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017), The Big Sick (2017), Free Fire (2016), War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), Hidden Figures (2016), and the three-punch combo of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Thor Ragnarok (2017)
