Best movie of 2018: Eighth Grade. Most favorite movie of 2018: Annihilation. The movie that makes me wish it was March already: Avengers: Infinity War. Most pleasant surprise of 2018: Cock Blockers. Second most pleasant surprise of 2018: Uncle Drew. Most cathartic film-going experience of 2018: The Strangers: Prey at Night. Definitely not the shit-shows some would have you believe: Solo, Venom, Aquaman. Biggest disappointment of 2018: Super Troopers 2. Worst movie of 2018: Well, nary a dud in my bunch so lets just say least favorite was Action Point due to the trailer giving everything away. (See also Payback.) Most ear-opening movie experience of 2018: the low volume ambient sound design of A Quiet Place reflecting and amplifying what noisy assholes we in the audience have become. Least favorite trend of 2018: Being held hostage to a half-hour of previews and commercials before the movie starts. (Looking at you, AMC Theaters.)

Another REALLY bad year at the movies. 2019 will be worse.
